VEGAN FRIENDLY DESERT:CARAMEL PECAN CINNAMON ROLLS

INGREDIENTS 
  • For the dough: 1 cup of warm milk, 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast,
  • 1/2 cup of sugar, 1/2 cup of melted butter, 2 eggs, 1 teaspoon of salt, 4 cups of all-purpose flour  
  • For the filling: 1/2 cup of sugar, 2 tablespoons of ground cinnamon,
  • 1/4 cup of melted butter, 1 cup of chopped pecans  
  • For the glaze: 1 cup of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, 1/4 cup of caramel sauce
 
INSTRUCTIONS 
  1. In a large bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. 
  2. Let sit for 5 minutes until the yeast is foamy. 
  3. Add the sugar, butter, eggs, salt, and flour to the yeast mixture. 
  4. Stir until a dough forms. 
  5. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes, or until smooth and elastic. 
  6. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.   
  7. After the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle. 
  8. Spread the melted butter over the dough. 
  9. In a bowl, combine the sugar, cinnamon, and chopped pecans.
  10. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the dough. 
  11. Roll up the dough tightly and cut it into 12 slices. 
  12. Place the slices in a greased baking dish. 
  13. Cover the baking dish and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes. 
  14. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). 
  15. Bake the rolls for about 25 minutes, or until golden brown. 
  16. While the rolls are baking, make the glaze by combining thepowdered sugar, milk, and caramel sauce in a bowl. 
  17. Drizzle the glaze over the warm rolls before serving.
